This football stadium is located on the shore of Barombong area, 10 km from the heart of Makassar City, capital of South Sulawesi province. The long-awaited international stadium will be replacing the old Stadion Mattoangin, built in 1955.
Stadion Barombong will have the capacity of 45,000 seats, designed to meet the international standard required by FIFA. This stadium will be the home to Makassar’s football club and one of the official stadium for Indonesian National Football Competition.
Praprimadni, the architecture consultant, developed the design to have a look similar to stadiums in Brazil and also display the strong character of Makassar.
One significant part of the building that will draw attention is the 40,000 sqm roof. It needs to be translated properly to achieve the desired look and perform its function. It needs to cover a large area, strong and also flexible. This requires the use of a roof cover that can be produced in a very long span in a single sheet, flexible and have the strength to withstand the strong wind.
LYSAGHT® FLEX-LOK is chosen for the project due to its flexibility and efficiency. The consultants being well informed of the specification makes the value of the product considered to exceed the price.
